Old Beans Cottage

Located in rural North Norfolk, Old Beans Cottage can be found nestling in quiet rolling countryside at the end of a country lane in the village of East Barsham. About 3 miles north of the small market town of Fakenham, it is perfectly placed to offer excellent access to the North Norfolk Coast at Wells and Holkham. The area is renowned for its bird watching opportunities with Titchwell and Cley easily accessible.

National Cycle routes 1 & 2 will take you through some super countryside and villages. With the coast so close and countryside on the doorstep, this is a great location for a relaxing break. For further details about the North Norfolk area see our Area Info page.

Old Beans Cottage is an 18th century former washhouse which has recently been converted into an exceptionally high quality studio cottage by internationally renowned wildlife cameraman Martin Hayward Smith – visit his website to find out more: This sympathetically restored period dwelling overlooks water meadows and woodland. It is not unusual to see Barn Owls and Snipe outside the Cottage.  Many varieties of nest boxes have been placed nearby to encourage wildlife.
